Challenge

Moonfish approached Skive to build an online game targeting network managers across the UK - the Network Manager Cup - for client Intel around the World Cup.

The concept allowed you to participate in a tournament against your peers to discover who has the best network management skills.

Execution

The game is set in a fictitious football environment with most of the action taking place in the manager’s office (the main interace), changing room (instructions) and pitch (action).

The user plays as the team manager, supported by the team coach, a video asset shot against greenscreen and seamlessly integrated into the execution, who introduces and links each section of content.

The basic premise is to learn about the various benefits of Intel's technologies and products pertaining to four categories, then participate in a quiz, with your scores and data being stored for comparison against your colleagues.

Working closely with Moonfish throughout, Skive used Flash 8 to integrate the various 3D assets such as the office requiring several smooth zoom transitions, and the copious amounts of video content.

During the quiz itself, the user must answer four consecutive questions correctly to score a goal. With each question, one of the video players on the pitch either passes or shoots depending on the question outcome.

The game experience uses a blend of ‘football managerial skills’ which act as a metaphor for ‘network managerial skills’.
